If it is objected that Martin Luther was a genius (which he truly is), it should be remembered that he became a great genius not because of his education as a Catholic priest and monk, but because of his sharp intelligence in being able to see the rotten situation in which the pre-Renaissance Church found itself in.
The pre-Reformation Luther was 'dumb' or average, but he became very smart when he revolted!
