Act of Contrition.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee. I wish to return now to my Father's house. I want to know Thee, to love Thee, to obey Thy commandments, and to reign with Thee forever in Paradise.

O Sorrowful and Immaculate heart of Mary, intercede for me and obtain for me the grace to do God's will in all things. Holy Michael the Archangel, defender of the Faith, pray for me. St. John the Baptist, pray for me. All you holy Angels and Saints, pray for me.

Anyone may post. All posts should be in good taste and mainly related to the Catholic Faith.

No foul language AT ALL!

Posts will be removed if in the opinion of the Administrator they are anti-Catholic, too offensive or not within the bounds of Catholic thought.

However unique, lively, satirical commentary (after the Roman Juvenal) is allowed as long as it does not become an excuse for abusive posts.

No one should post as a member of the clergy unless they are!

At the Traditional Mass, the priest and people face east, towards the Lord. This orientation was used at the Last Supper and by the early Christians, and it continues to be used at the Traditional Mass.

This common direction of prayer should not be viewed as the priest having his "back to the people"; rather, this eastward orientation fully expresses the meaning of the Mass—the priest leads the faithful towards the eternal goal of the Heavenly City, and he offers the Sacrifice that is Christ, to God, facing God. For Catholic tradition sees Christ as coming from the East, the direction of the rising sun.

This orientation also makes the priests' personality fade away. He becomes a servant to the sacred act that he performs, controlled by the ancient rubrics.

St. Catherine of Alexandria

Virgin & Martyr

Double Feast

St. Catherine of Alexandria, Virgin and Martyr whose feast day is November 25th. She is the patroness of philosophers and preachers.

St. Catherine is believed to have been born in Alexandria of a noble family. Converted to Christianity through a vision, she denounced Maxentius for persecuting Christians. Fifty of her converts were then burned to death by Maxentius.

Maxentius offered Catherine a royal marriage if she would deny the Faith. Her refusal landed her in prison. While in prison, and while Maxentius was away, Catherine converted Maxentius' wife and two hundred of his soldiers. He had them all put to death.

Catherine was likewise condemned to death. She was put on a spiked wheel, and when the wheel broke, she was beheaded. She is venerated as the patroness of philosophers and preachers. St. Catherine's was one of the voices heard by St. Joan of Arc.

Maxentius' blind fury against St. Catherine is symbolic of the anger of the world in the face of truth and justice. When we live a life of truth and justice, we can expect the forces of evil to oppose us. Our perseverance in good, however, will be everlasting.

We are Mary's:

REMEMBER REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Amen.
