Turbans and snoods (in the 40s) were the equivalent of today's baseball caps and wool knit caps. Basically, if you had to run errands, and didn't have time to do anything with your hair, you tucked it in or under. Add a pin or a ribbon, and you were stylin'. Scarves served the same purpose in the 50s and 60s. Didn't help they were called babushkas, LOL!!! I've seen brightly colored (or animal print) berets worn here, and seems much more stylish!!!
