Whilst I loved the historic aspects of the pastel/gold version of the Coronation Gown, I also loved that it could be worn as a totally contemporary dress too so I begged for some very modern models to wear other colours.
It was actually possible to request other colours but for me the colours shown in the samples were perfect.
Anyone who knows me personally also knows that I am totally in love with Austria and fascinated by its landscape, culture and traditions.
One of the things I love watching on TV every year is the opening of the Vienna Opera Ball with the debutantes dancing the opening sequences...the "Dance Committee" of 144 couples dressed according to a very strict black and white dress code.
I've been begging for dolls representing this for years and was even more keen when in 2020 same sex couples were allowed for the first time in these opening dances.
I decided to go for gowns in the traditional black and white colours to represent the Vienna Opera Ball in my head. I must stress there's nothing official about this, it's purely what the dolls and their gowns mean to me!
Also, the gowns wouldn't actually meet the dress code LOL! No crinoline petticoats are allowed and no sparkling decorations...and the person dancing the male steps wore men's white tie evening dress.....but to me they are at a magical ball!
One thing I did want was sparkly headdresses - each year Swarovski, often in conjunction with a famous designer, creates a tiara for all the debutantes. My girls actually wore conventional tiaras at the Majestic Dinner in Harrogate but have their own individual headdresses.
I apologise if I'm waffling too much but I love these girls so much!
