Here’s the story we heard about that gown and the couture show >>
Madame Gris Allier was closed by the Germans early in the war, she was forced to move to Germany to keep designing. Her first show there she made the majority of the fashions in the colors of the French flag: red, white and blue. On several of the gowns she embroidered a teeny tiny yellow Star of David hidden in the seams or waist. She also refused to make gowns for Nazi officers wives, using the “I’m too busy” excuse. She survived the war but her business partner and possible life partner sold her French house out from under her while she was away.
