She had watched Baraqel vanish into an explosion, and she had sent her heart to him in that instant. He was there, alive, somewhere. He would always be with her, and she with him. Cold sapphire eyes waver on the bloody corpses of Desreal, and for an instant she wonders if in his last moments Kurai knew the fate she had bestowed upon him. She had warned him once, what seemed like eons ago that she would be the one to kill him. And in the end, not only had she paved the way for him, she had given him all the insentive he needed.

Saphira wanders through the shadows as free as a creature like her can be. She sees the shining outline of obsidian and silver, and a haunting laughter that echoes through her bones. She gazes into the mist, and with a sad smile, she gives her father his final farewell. She reaches in, and her muzzle trails along the length of his neck, and she breathes in the last lingering smell of her humanity, and her blood. The scythe etches itself into her face once more, but the moment she draws away, leaving his spirit behind, the mark vanishes. Leaving nothing but the gaping hole and blood in its wake.

There is so much about Saphira to this day the elements could not comprehend, and she feels the presence of water moving fludily around her. She looks up, to see Marshall sending Ariel away, to escape the fate he had sealed for himself. She knew what he was going to do, and she wouldn’t stop him. Not because she didn’t care, but because she cared too much. Her water and lightning rushed towards him, a galloping figure across the plains. It embraces him in his final moments, and then she is gone. A whirlwind of fate, love, and emptiness. Never forget she loved you Marshall, she loved you far more than she should have, but never enough of what you deserved.

Dusan comes to his mothers side then, a glowing figure of russet strength. Not reaching the age of maturity, he was a magnificent stallion. Their eyes meet, sapphire to amber. Together they turn and head towards the fallen ocean, and the family they knew was waiting for them. Saphira walks right up to Alshain’s side, and in that moment nothing else mattered. Their gazes met, and in a final moment standing on the brink of eternity, she took her leap of faith next to her lover, her falconblade. Now bring us that horizon.
