His eyes widened, and he looked at the mare suspiciously, scouring her body for any tell-tale sign, though none came. He was intrigued by this mare – she was truly an enigma.

He noticed too, her uncanny bond with the wind. It was admirable, and his lightning darted invisibly through the air, brushing past the wind before settling deep into the earth. It murmured in approval, and Alcatraz briefly let a smile tug the corners of his lips.

“Negotiate?” He played with the word the way he would play with a glittering knife, toying it slowly. He liked the idea. His eyes narrowed slightly as he thought. “You have a relic, don’t you?” He needed her help – but he was too proud to admit it. He didn’t need to vocalize his desperation to break from the water shard’s clutch, it was clear enough in the dark recesses of his eyes.
