Just a day or so old and she’s brave enough to wander on her own, but not nearly brave enough to approach Kurai when she first sees him. Instead she darts into the nearest bush, the plants and the flowers building up a thicker wall between them, and she peeks from a tiny hole to see his white eyes first and foremost. This, perhaps, is what scares her the most aside from the wings which remain curled up on either of his sides while he stands staring at her because;
A. Everyone saw her jump behind the bush.
B. It’s hard to miss the shiny ice blue eye that stares at him unblinkingly
C. Plants are going apeshit now as they detect the earthly child within their presence.

Very little time passes and the child eventually deviates from bush to nearby rock, from rock to tree, from tree to….
Well crap we ran out of hiding places. “Ciel,” she breathes finally when she realizes she can no longer be shy for him. The dappled filly, no bigger than the small bush she was hiding behind, totters up to him and blinks slowly. “Ciel.”
Translation?
Everything is going to be okay.
