His eyes were wild and laced beneath the tendrils of his mane. He moves (gallops) away from Solira, not wanting to be near the waves. Instead he feels himself being pulled towards her. Being pulled towards Saphira who was kindred with him in the ways of the water, who was his best friend, tonight that could change and not for the better. He feels it thundering through his veins, thundering through his heart even while his mind screams at him, telling him no. He tosses his head, weaves through the trees and gives over to instinct, trusting both his body and his element to guide him through the trees as he gallops through Desreal to find her.
He needed to be near her. He loved her and tonight he could not hold it back. The sky was black, the stars and moon blotted out by the sun. There was no light and yet he could still sense her, still see her. His mind reached out to touch her own, able to read her thoughts easily now, no longer just emotions and vagueness. His mind feels primal within hers and he just touches her for a moment before he pulls back into himself. There is no smile upon his lips.
He is just a stallion and he loves her.
The snow beneath him is melting and only the vague patches of slush mark his way. Soon though he can really see her, see her against a backdrop of white-brown snow. He slows, his mane falling into his eyes as he stops abruptly, his breathing heavy. A light coat of sweat covers him and he can feel it is cold but he doesn’t feel it. He reaches his lips out to touch the scar, the one that he had given her and he sighs, though his eyes are still wild as they look to her. “Saphira, I love you.” And he shakes his head, feeling her about to say it, say it in friendship.
“No Saphira. I love you with my heart, my mind, my body, and my soul.” He looks at her, but does not beg, does not plead. “I know you love Alshain.” He pauses, pulling his head back away from her before he suddenly wraps his body loosely around hers. “I love you so much my chest aches, literally.” And it did, he felt his heart thump, thump against it and he felt like his heart physically hurt. He looked away from her, releasing her from the light hold he had. He looks out into the forest. “I had to tell you.” And that was that, he cannot stand to see the emotions in her eyes, closes his mind to hers. He cannot stand to see the denial.
