spirits that walk for a thousand years;
here them calling on that darkest morning;
pulling me under, my thoughts dissapear;
She takes a step into the shoulder of the fire mare, and allows her lips to trail across the molten skin. Tracing the pattern of a wave, the air sending it rolling across Mab’s body. It was not a display of superiority, although it could be viewed as one. But no, for Saphira, it was a gesture of friendship, acceptance. She ponders over Solira for a brief instant, and she can feel her elements scream to return to her ocean playground. And it pains her to refuse them. She turns back to Mab, and lightning ignites along the patterns of her scars. And such interesting scars they are. A falcon hovering over her breast, a seashell on her neck and wither, a snake slithering up her left hind leg, and a coiled snake with a glinting murky white stone embedded on her shoulder. Each scar told a story, you only needed to ask.
“It is easy enough to see Solira is falling. Ozymandias was a fool for taking a throne where he was not welcomed. He will pay for it in the end. Until then it is of little consequence to me.”
She does not mention how she grew up in Solira from birth, or how much is truly pained her to be away from them now. But she did, because she thought it was right. Knew it was. Deep down.
“Hypatia will see to her own fate, you need not concern yourself with that.”
It was sort of a nice way of telling her to mind her business, for in truth there was nothing Mab could do, save ursurp the throne from the Relic mare. And if Solira had taught us anything, it was to be voted in, not to take the choice away.
“It would be possible, but it comes at a price. I wonder if you would be able to pay it. The cost is near death, each time I reach into the afterlife, part of me is left behind… I have saved 3 lives now. I am not too sure how many more I can withstand. But if you were willing to lend me your energy…I should be able to succeed. But it would nearly kill you Mab, and scar me for life. It will never heal. Can you accept this burden and with it, it’s price?”
She did not answer yes or no. But the very idea that she had considered it enough to voice in detail what would happen was a good sign. But the ball was now in your court, and all my Siren could do, was wait.
the siren;
the keeper;
water III + lightning III + air III
you can hold the darkness from you;
if the will is very strong;
but that whisper always haunts you;
cannot change the Siren's Song.
