She pauses a moment, and looks away from his attuned gaze. She is not afraid of what she might see, but rather what he might see in her. She can feel the shards presence, always hear its whispers. It was just easier to ignore in his vast and consuming presence. She loved hi too much to think of anything else, and so it got pushed aside, for now. But what would happen when he wasn’t there? Indeed. What then. She had already accumulated her slaves, one of which was his son. She just didn’t want to admit that to herself, or to him.
“Just as I would die protecting you.”
She smiles into his neck, wondering where he would go from here. She knew he would never go back to Solira without her. Ni’Srilian seemed well under way when it came to their warriors. She thought of Stelios then, the Andarin King, her uncle. She laughs at the thought of Alshain meeting him, and the sound is bell-like. The happiest she has sounded since Notte’s disappearance so long ago.
“I am sure Stelios would welcome you into Andarin. He is after all my family.”
Alshain knows about most of her family, but even he had not known this.
