first the tempermental goat,
the snail while he's feeding on the rose.
there was a time when she long ago she was not mother, not gaia, not the primordium; she was but elemmire, and in that time long ago she'd found herself dead at the foot of a beast so unnatually beautiful and frightening she'd lusted (even in death) to become that monster. and here now she stood, beautiful, captivating, and fear mongering; wielding earthly magicks in dark ways and twisted by the corruption of herself. the shard was no more to blame then she was, and it has been before the shard her corruption has started.
in her death she was reborn from a creature shapeless and hungry; the primordium. it ravaged and warlike in nature, gave her bloodthrist. upon acquiring the earth gaia grew to her and called for her to take up the beauty of the world around her; and upon the birth of palestine she was mother... and most recently mother had become frequent in her appearences.
yet it is kalleis who cries for her, cries and sleeplessly wanders the pathways of desreal. she hears her, and oh her aching ears hear her, she smiles and sighs; mother beseiging her and taking her over; the shard hungrily ripping beneath her flesh. as she walks the scent of water and lightning flair, the scent of brimstone and hunger, she smiles; a trap laid most strangely. the earth-mother hums; "“twinkle, twinkle little star- how I wonder what you are… up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky. When the blazing sun is gone, when the nothing shines upon… than you show your little light, twinkle twinkle all the night. Then the traveler in the dark, thanks you for your little spark, he could not see which way to go if you did not twinkle so… though I know not what you are; twinkle twinkle little star…”
as she comes to the edge of the way she sees them, the painted warrior and the corn yellow mare, she hums still, her voice cracked and agin, her inlfuence waving and haunting as she presses on the childs mind. she wields her, edging her with telepathtic whims; "bind her child, let her know what is to be done," she whispers, poking the mind of the child with her shards invisible powers.
she turns her head to saphira, hungry jaws readied and smiling, "I won't let you make the same mistake," she sighs, "to save you from yourself is to damn and condemn myself further." she feels the earth shiver.
earthquake; mother nature; mortalis; mimicry4
