He might have. Severus decided he still very much despised scholars above all others, with their boldness and sociable natures. At least Requiem, after grinding his maxillary bones to a fine powder, would have given him room to drown in his own blood like a courteous and sensible horse. Scholars – especially scholar mares, he thought ruefully – never gave as much. It only increased his ire that they felt entitled to every thought in his head, however vague and unimportant. But nobody came to soak up Severus’ endless diatribes about the inherent evilness of the scholar class. He just wanted Nyota gone. “Your mind is quite slow indeed, then,” the pale beast hissed acerbically. He tilted his head, pausing to smell the air around the Polestar with a most interested expression. “But very quick to move on…?” Pale eyes watched for some small validation of his guess. She smelled like a pregnant mare.
