The strings, Brutus. Can you hear them? They call to you, like the wind. The winds were picking up as Solira’s ocean stood at her back. The winds bring with it something melodic and free as the strands of time seem to glisten along the edges of Desreal’s wild woods that border the mountains and the desert and the ocean. Something deeming of her appearance was looming in her demeanor as she strode forward, blood still on her semi-broken body. Genesis, the great fighter, will not be put under by some dogs. And ah, a horn, a symphony of horns greet the two as they finally set eyes upon each other. Somewhere in the lessening distance a storm brewed, but it was not the kind of storm that brought with it death and the promising hope that a love would be restored. Perhaps it was too late for them, though Genesis could not ever be certain of such. As she ambled forward, those eagle sharp eyes wove to his body, watching every movement that he made in the solitary confines of the darkness. It was maddeningly unhelpful at best to watch him now and know that he was somewhere else, and they could only meet in a place that was the least safe of them all. Those eyes! Oh, how they so tenderly watched the sunset as she waited for him. And then, in the last breathless moment of the dusk, when the last little bit of brightness escaped the lands, he had come. And with his presence, a smile to her face.
One day. That would be all that they had.
It seems rather dismal to go through the process of building a relationship like theirs when it would only be torn apart in the end, especially now that she had refused to stay in Enipeus and Ilius where she had been an immortal. But she had turned away from that, not wanting to tear apart herself and those around her. The ivory maiden, seemingly made of iron, was not as self relying as she had once thought. Her world was something twisted and manipulating. But at least now, her black heart had a little bit of life to it. The horns signal that the sunlight has set, and Brutus has come. Genesis, in all of her righteousness, cannot help but stop and stare. There is a lingering smile on her lips, though she knew deep down that he would come. In her eyes, there still sleeps the knowledge of what the sunset will bring with it and yet also what it will again be forced to take away. But for now, she is grateful for what it has given her: Brutus. She comes to his side and lets her muzzle brush against him, carefully reacquainting herself with his body, with his scent. And then, when she is thoroughly satisfied that he is real and will not disappear in a green flash, Genesis lets her eyes rest in his. They are still fierce in their own eagle-sharp way. But deep inside of them they hold something rather melancholy to their bluish brown depths. She smiles, even through her own sadness and the realization that they would be apart after the sun set again. Genesis lost herself in his eyes, not wanting to lose him again and yet knowing that it would only be temporary. Her eyes went to the sun. It was starting to sink again. The regret sank heavily on her heart. They had so much to talk about, to discuss, to get on the same page with one another.
”I’ll get you back home as soon as I can,” she said, making the promise with a small smile. ”And Aquila is in Andarin, so you should find her. There’s something that you need to know about. After I left Enipeus and left behind immortality, I lost my memory. I met an Andarin stallion named Fantome and we have a daughter together named Courage. Alshain is in Solira with me, along with his new lover Saphira.” And then it hits her, just as the sunlight is beginning to drain from the sky. Just as she is beginning to lose herself all over again in his presence. So she straightens, casting a forlorn gaze to the falling sun. ”I will find a way to get out of this.” Her eyes spoke her promise for her, and her voice merely resounded it to Brutus as the silver stallion stood before her. Dear Brutus, you put her in charge of something, and she is a loyal and noble creature. She will not abandon you, and she wants only to be here now, minus the whole sun sinking thing.
