adapt or perish;
now as ever;
is nature`s inexorable imperative;
“Good.”
Such a simple statement, and yet the tone, the matter of fact expression said that if his response had been anything else, there would have been an entirely different outcome for the water stallion. This was Rowan forest; she had grown the very trees that blossomed around her. She takes a few steps towards Marshall, weaving around him. The heat of her body crawling along his skin, without physical contact. Rowan did not touch others; it sullied the balance of nature within her.
“You are mistaken Marshall. I was not born with my element, it bore me.”
She does not add that she knows this because she awoke alone as a child, and the forest had kept her safe. It has nursed her through her younger years, and had claimed her as their daughter. Rowan does not tell her story to anyone, but the woods sing of it. You only had to know how to listen.
