Desreal: The world will never, ever be the same.

Delilah frowned and her eyes widened disconcerted as Oceantree rejected her touch, her friendship. Her eyes were glassed with blemishing horror and hesitation, and they sought reasoning frantically as they switched between her strange foreign stare. The horse drew sullenly away and for the first time scorn swept through Delilah’s softly snorting breath. It felt in that second of understanding that a fallen log; better still a fragment of the granite cliff which protruded roughly from Andarin’s slopes, had been delivered cruelly into her stomach.

She could not speak for some time and gazed painfully forward. Her ears began to twitch as her thoughts assembled. She lowered her face sorrowfully. “I… I don’t know what to say.” She breathed sadly, but Delilah couldn’t draw her attention from the unusual manner her friend had adopted. It was almost as though she were still the white wolf next to the stream; a stranger; someone she had never known.

Oceantree turned away and Delilah’s eyes narrowed as she watched the mare walk away. “Oceantree.” She called quietly. “Time heals the heart; time heals the soul and mind.” She smiled wistfully to the rear of the horse who she had known; once so young; Fei’s rainbow smiling girl. It was the streaming tears that caused the bubble to catch suddenly in her throat, and then she found there the sweetheart she remembered.

“Oceantree…” She called again, louder with her honey-sweet voice. “The world will go on… you and I, we will meet again.”

Delilah turned with a gravely disappointed weight across her shoulders and for now, she couldn’t bear to think of what they had done. Alone she left Desreal, perhaps to go home… maybe to find solace somewhere indifferent.
