Shark all but shrieks with absolute horse-like delight when she nips him and flits away. She reminds him not only of dandelions, but of butterflies too. She reminds him of those fuzzy little buggers that have an urge to break apart when he gets near them which ultimately sends the flower seeds scattering into the world around him. He always does it and he doesn’t understand that it is his aura that does it, that it is the wind that blasts the dandelions apart before he has a chance to touch them. Perhaps that is why he likes them, because then he spends the entirety of his afternoon chasing the damned things and while he does it he forgets about his troubles.
If he had any troubles to begin with, that is.
Ianthe is a beautiful, magical thing to Shark despite the fact that he’s only known her for about an hour or so. Kids can do that, though. Kids can make best friends in two minutes if everything is set just right because they are ignorant and stupid and naïve little things that push aside everything just to have someone close who shares the same values. Ianthe to Shark is a piece of glitter in his dark little world. A world of which has given him no friends and no family up until now. When Ianthe darts off he follows after her, his bumbling purple and fuzzy black body loping after her and shaking with laughter all the while. A wild cross-wind lilts about him and her, blasting seeding dandelions apart as he follows her. “Dandelion!” He says, “Where do you live?” And he catches up and nips her playfully before jumping at her fully and bringing them tumbling down into the flower beds. Like a cartoon, a yellow cloud of dust drifts up from where they rolled over flowers and caused all the pollen to erode. It happens like this because it is simple and Shark is just that.
“Can I come with you?” He says with a bright smile and even brighter rainforest green eyes, because he wants to go where someone will be his friend.
