Lee, I don't know if you participated with them this year, but it was a perfect morning for a redneck outing. One group, the ones I went with met up at 6:30am. It was raining so we decided to met up again at 8:00am.
When we got to where we were going to hunt it had started raining again, but what self-respecting redneck lets a little rain get in the way of an adventure? Without permission I won't give out any names except for Stork, Cheyenne (the wonder dog), my son, a couple of other guys, myself and the squirrel dog and his owner all took off through the woods. The rain picked up a little more.
The dog treed, we all looked up into the tree, but couldn't see anything. Not because nothing was there, but because you couldn't see but a few feet for all of the rain. Luckily we were in the hills and had been smart enough, or lazy enough to stay on top of the ridges. I don't know what it meant, but all of the animals were pairing up. I could have sworn I heard some of them saying something about an ark. Oh, did I mention that the rain had picked up just a tab bit more?
There's not another feeling in the world that compares to being out in the woods with old friends, new friends, family, a good dog and the feeling of rain running down your butt crack in February. I can't remember, did I mention it was raining?
Final tally, one tree (even the squirrels were smart enough to get in out of the rain) and about 1/2 a dozen soaked rednecks. It was a blast, really! That's one thing about a redneck, we can have fun with just about anything. Thanks guys, it really was fun. Did I mention it rained a little that day?
