Boxer-Kerry "Cap & Trade Bill" won't fuel Nuclear Power?

PG&E's Diablo Canyon Nuclear power plant sits about 9-miles north of Avila Beach. I live another 3-miles south. When this plant was being built in the '70s it was the focus of anti-war agitators "Mothers For Peace". PG&E originally thought they could build it south of the Pismo Beach/Ocean sand dunes. But then they bought the historic Marre Ranch property that then allowed owner Bob Marre to build the San Luis Bay Inn overlooking a 18-hole golf course in Avila Beach. "Mothers For Peace" continued to fight the project, having geologists search for earthquake faults off the Point Buchon coast. They finally found one—5,000 years old and named it the Hosgri Fault. Diablo Canyon was built to withstand a 7.5 Earthquake. (It's foundation can move like a hip bone.) When we toured it in 1996-97 they told us that the waste would be stored in Yucca Mountain starting in 1998.
They are now storing it in concrete containers in that pool you see behind the plant. Our 23rd Congressional District representative, Lois Capps, has no solution. She was fought against it being barged away from the plant. She was against it being put on railroad cars to Nevada. She has no clue how the French store their waste.
