I received a phone call from Mike Doyle this afternoon with good news about his Theta Chi fraternity brother Bart Fenolio. Bart's blood tests came back positive for Lyme Disease—not ALS. Although they have similar symptoms, it is not as fatal, if treated early.

Doyle also told me he moved down to stay in Monterey because during Tuesday's storm the power went out on Skyline above Los Gatos. Today he said power was out in downtown Carmel and affected about 50,000 residents in the Monterey Bay Area, but that it usually takes longer to restore power off Skyline Blvd.
Deer ticks carry lyme disease. Ticks will jump about 4-feet from Coyote Brush (aka Tick Brush). We just cleared our backyard of Tick Brush and will fence it to keep the deer out. We recommend you do the same if you live in deer country. Here's a good photo of California's Coyote (Tick) Brush. Remove it, then shower immediately looking for ticks.
