I have been getting lots of email from a group of you hard core Republicans. The mail is directed toward our president in the most vitriolic terms. Some of you don't get it yet. The Republicans were ousted by Americans, the same Americans that voted for George W. America views the Republicans as an intellectually bankrupt party. In their last gasp they rode the sinking ship down with George W. Historians are already placing him near the very bottom of the worst presidents in history. He did not finish Afghanistan and started the wrong war, failed on health care, immigration, Katrina, social security and foreign policy. Where is Ben Ladin's head on a plate, and ,oh yes what about wall street? Plenty of blame to go around on that one, but he was the guy in charge. But what would you expect from a man that talks to God, and shoots from the gut.
So what are you worried about? Is it the national debt? Those seeds were planted a long time ago. George W. came into office with a surplus and left after he more than doubled this debt from about 5 trill. to 11Trill. when he left. Will Obama be successful? My odds are that he will be. I believe that his first 100 days will be historically unprescedented in accomplishmenht. He will run a large debt but he will get the economy going and small business will thrive. He is right about education too. We have got to have an technologically educated workforce in order to compete in the new economy. We no longer are able to produce manufactured goods at the wage rates that exist in the world today. We have got to do it with brains and yankee ingenuity, something that we are good at.
Are you worried about your portfolio? The seeds for this disaster were also planted long ago. Odds are that your portfolio and the economy will recover, maybe sooner than later.
Any of Obama's policies and actions are a moving target for some of you folks. There is a calculated effort to despoil destroy this mans effort. In our system, every president is given a chance, even failed presidents. and Obama has been in office a little over 2 months and is accomplishing exactly what he promised to do. Amertica wanted change and that is exactly what we are getting, in the most unprescedented rate and style that any of us have ever seen. Historically, I have never seen world leaders agree on anything financial unless each country sees a direct benifit. This week at the G20 summit 17 nations did agree to free their economies from protectionism, reform financial institutions protecting shareholders and undertaking fiscal expansion toward a global solution. Getting rid of "pie in the sky", Rick Wagoner at GM is unprescedented, it sends signals to CEO's and their croney boards and the Unions too.
The free world is infatuated with Obama. He is seen as a man that idealizes the values that we hold forth to others. We often find sound reasons criticize the Europeans and others but these people are not stupid. The last 8 years have destroyed our world image. Our influence and economic success is dependent upon how the rest of the world sees us. I believe that Obama can restore our world image.
So what are you worried about? We all need to give this guy a chance. We will know soon enough if he fails. Then we are entitled to criticize. ?.
