Billy Wilson married a SJS Alpha Phi, Shirley, who must have been Wilson's college sweetheart as both attended Sparta from '47-51. Back in 1984 when we printed a number of Gold "Go For Four" T-shirts, we roped a few alums into putting them on for an ad to honor what possibly could have been our fourth straight win over Stanford.
Wilson was down in San Luis that year playing in John Madden's Cal Poly football golf tournament when I asked him that evening before entering the hotel ballroom to put our "Go For Four" T-shirt on over his shirt and tie for a photo. We ran an ad in the then newsprint Washington Square to help fund cheerleader travel.
We've been mostly in touch with his wife Shirley on the Rat Line as Billy's been ill for some time. If you would like to send her a sympathy card, write to:
