The Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution concert planned for last October is rescheduled for May 16 at 7 p.m. in the W. W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center at Blinn College. Tickets go on sale on Friday - $10 in advance, - $12 at the door, and $5 with a student ID.
Known for its cool, smooth sound, the Tejano Music Hall of Fame band features a strong horn section, crashing percussion, and accordion accompaniment to Ramos’ distinctive voice. The Texas-based group’s musical roots reach back 80 years -- a Ramos family musical legacy infused with the Big Band sound of the 1940s and influenced by blues and rock. Ramos, whose nickname is "El Gato Negro", (the Black Cat), is known for the suits he wears on stage as a sign of respect for his fans that spend their hard-earned money to see him perform. For more information and to reserve seats, contact the ticket office in the Blinn College Student Center, or call (979) 830-4024. Dorothy_NM www.TejanoNotes.com
