My son has mild asthma and allergies. We've been considering adding a dog to our family. We wanted to wait until our kids were older and more responsible. I'd like to rescue a poo-mix dog due to low shedding. The goldendoodles are adorable, but they're sooooooooo expensive, and I have a hard time with the thought of giving my money to a breeder when there are so many dogs in shelters who need adopting.
I'd prefer a young female dog. My husband doesn't like small, yappy dogs, so I'm looking for a medium to large dog, so a standard poodle mix would be perfect. One that's been spayed would be even better!
We live in the DFW area of Texas. We have one cat, so the dog would have to be good with kitties. This would be an indoor dog that would become a member of our family. Our kids are 10, 12 and 14.
I've been watching on Petfinder. I'm sure in the next month or two, we'll see a lot more on there due to people adopting Christmas puppies and getting tired of the responsiblity, so maybe I should just be patient...
