The point I am making is that GHR is repetitive. That is my opinion. Or maybe I should go to Specsavers to have my hearing checked, because it sounds to me that the station has just a few hundred tracks that are played over and over.
Also, GHR has inherited its listeners from the local friendly radio stations it has ousted from their frequencies. GHR's audience has been ready-made. I would say many people are disappointed to lose their local DJs and station identities.
I don't know how common this is, but GHR got his hands on 107.2, the former home of Rutland Radio, yet GHR broadcasts all across the East Midlands on 106. So I ask myself why does GHR need 107.2? The obvious answer is it doesn't, and more than likely remains on that frequency to keep out any competitor.
I like 70s / 80s / 90s music. These decades could, and should, sound good on the radio. Unfortunately, with GHR, they make it sound as if there was a severe famine of music throughout those decades, what with the station sounding so repetitive.
As for the BBC losing its way: I have never enjoyed BBC radio, but I am sure millions have, and millions still do. Those that do enjoy it will probably wholeheartedly disagree with the comment you have made, therefore everything, including what I have to say on the BBC and GHR, is an opinion I am entitled to, in the same way that you are entitled to express an opinion.
