Still tweaking. Not much time there today.
Alan and his team did a massive strip down of the Harris with the power modules being cleaned in an Ultrasonic Bath.
Alan also replaced a crucial edge connector and soldered it instead of its forced dry connection, if I understood it correctly.
Finally, Dave Wilding spotted a rodent-chewed cable which came from a power supply. That was also repaired. On inspection, it looked like an old chew, so maybe, A little mouse with clogs on! (This TX came from Holland).
Just before we left, Alan was trying to sort out the remote PC control of the 9200, but it turned out that the Software and Firmware were a version out, which was dull.
Easiest fix is to download an older version of the control software. If it’s like the 8282 that we had at Maidstone, upgrading the firmware involves changing a big chip, which I did to that one, along with replacing it’s display.
Hopefully in a day or two, we’ll be able to access it.
Modulation could come up. I had my Hacker radio with me (along with others, and we also listened to SDR’s on a nice Sony Bluetooth speaker) and it sounded great, but back at home it sounded a touch bass heavy to me. It hadn’t sounded bass heavy in the car! The issues of making it sound good on many devices.
So work in progress, but a huge amount done and things put in place in the past two days.
