Geoff, I didn’t “announce” anything, I merely posted a comment. “Announce” tends to imply that I’m being pompous, which is not the intention.
You are sadly mistaken if you think the BBC is “the government’s mouthpiece.” I have worked for it, and for many other broadcasters, and it, and they, are not anyone’s mouthpiece. But I’m sure that no words from me, or from anyone else, will change your view; a view to which you are wholly entitled.
As for my pet subject, it’s offshore radio from the 1960s, but I didn’t weave it tenuously into my post. Neither did I, nor would I, ridicule anyone. However, you did come in from some criticism a while ago over your hobby horse of ‘control’ and ‘free speech’ being woven into virtually all your posts. That’s your right, but my point was that it’s boring. I didn’t engage with the comments at the time, but there were several of them.
It’s a pity really, because I thoroughly enjoy your posts on radio, and almost always agree with you. So we really shouldn’t fall out over it.
Finally, where did I state that I think David should be banned? I most certainly did not say that, I simply said the repetition of a pet subject is “quite irritating”. I certainly don’t think David, or you, or anyone should be banned for being repetitive or having a subject that is close to their heart.
