Re: Hobby Radio LW MW or VHF
FTB, I answer the last points separately to avoid a monologue!! It may well we would have imposed antenna size restrictions, and a 5 / 10 watt power restriction too. Modulation would be limited to AM or FM (if desired to avoid audio brealthrough QRM). Anything is better than nothing, and changes (more privileges) can always be negotiated later if no interference happens. NOV's (licence variations) could also be possible for special radio research reasons. The key to 'Hobby Radio' is for it to be open to anyone, non political & non advertising. Perhaps a trial period could be granted first to Radio Amateurs to 'test' the 'Hobby music' idea, and if there are no problems, then be open to all. I would imagine the little MW Mosquito rigs would never cause any interference problems, so perhaps non Amateurs could use these immediately. It's sensible for a simple (over any PO counter) registration of Hobby Radio operators (same as Amateurs have to be known) to be in place, so the locations of the TX's are known. That would be of value in emergencies, or the very unlikely case of interference to a VHF service. LW & MW is the best option to avoid any interference issues to VHF / UHF users, David LW
