We did try driving the limiter a bit harder in the early days and it sometimes made it very harsh. Some of this may have been cumulative mp3 issues, particularly if a track was at a lower rate than was ideal, and this did not work well with harder clipping. Needless to say we constantly try to weed out the worst offending tracks, but basically, we made a decision to back the clipping drive off as it made it unpleasant. I think that it's likely that people in the TSA will listen for long periods. Caroline listeners tend to do that, so it needs to be as good as we can make it in the TSA. I will once again point out that I think we have a pretty good sounding signal, up against the big boys that will have music stored as WAV (lossless) files, a totally digital studio, a high rate or lossless link, and a multi-thousand pound digital processor.
