Steve, in my opinion this was one of the most interesting periods in Caroline's history. Subsequent to the passing of legislation in the Netherlands to outlaw offshore radio Caroline really did have to struggle to survive in a fascinating clandestine world. As Freddie has said you can actually piece together the story from a number of publications. I have yet to read Albert's book (I've ordered it, but am still awaiting its arrival), and I'm sure it does tell some of the story. However there are many other publications from which you can piece together the tale. One of the best in my opinion is Bob Lawrence's book The Last Great Adventure For Boys. Bob wrote the book in a way that he could tell the story without upsetting too many people with their real names. I found it to be very close to what actually happened and I'd commend you to read it. If you do see how many of the characters you can translate into those that actually existed. Some are obvious, others are composites of those that actually existed. I am sure many who were involved then have show a wry smile if they have read the book. Do get a copy - you won't be disappointed if you enjoyed this period in Caroline's history.
