The Last Pirates ó Britainís Rebel DJs (BBC4, 9pm)
Not the 1960s lot, or the garage and grime champions of the 1990s, but the 1980s London pirates (chiefly on Kiss FM and LWR) who played black music when mainstream radio shunned it. Jazzie B and Trevor Nelson, both former Kiss DJs, are among the interviewees in a film chronicling the rivalries, the cat-and-mouse games with trade-ministry spoilsports and the dilemmas over whether or not to go legal.
Also from the BBC website:-
"Featuring interviews with DJs, station owners and DTI enforcers - as well as some of the engineers who were the secret weapon in the pirate arsenal - this is the untold story of how Britain's greatest generation of pirate radio broadcasters changed the soundtrack of modern Britain forever."
Dave M - Are you featured? or will it just be Pyers?
