The religious programming and the pauses during the switchover was reminiscent of the offshore days, as was the tone after closedown on Monday. I am sad enough to have listened to see what was on after the Fortunes faded out.
Given the very limited resources, and the 100% reliance on volunteers, the end result, technically, is an incredible achievement.
Most potential new listeners will be drawn from those who previously listened but didn't realise that Caroline continues and evolves, albeit, at a limited pace.
I suspect that there is little intention to gain any other listeners from so-called 'professional' mainstream broadcasters, so comparisons are meaningless.
If you cannot tolerate hesitant presenters or the odd break, then as others have said, you are probably in the wrong place. If your head hurts, stop banging it!
