That's what came across a documentary I watched on YouTube yesterday about London pirate radio "Inside the world of pirate radio - Newsnight".. They asked the operators why not just broadcast over the internet and save yourself the hassle and legal consequences of FM pirating and they said the excitement is when it's over the air on FM, when they've just done internet only, no one turns up to get involved.. none of the DJ's were interested.. the buzz is having a signal beaming out across London on the FM band and competing to have the best signal along the M25, to quote.. "everyone wants to take over the M25, be it north south east or west and it would be brilliant.." !! he goes on to say that when they're on air on the FM band that's when their phone lines light up and really pop !! whereas being solely on the internet is dull and no one really cares..
So for these people the action and excitement is still with FM radio..
