I've just spent a few hours curled up with Nigel Harris' gripping tome about his life on the Mi Amigo and the Ross Revenge - I thoroughly recommend it, and I learned a lot from his writing. I feel very sad and humbled after reading Nigel's book, for I had not realised just how desperate and broke Caroline was at times and what unspeakable hardships Nigel and his colleagues had to go through. I honestly did not realise just how bad things were or I would have contributed more. My, how my 'generation' or era of jocks had it easy!
I have long envied Nigel for the luxury of the time he was able to devote to the Lady (he wasn't encumbered with a girlfriend demanding attention and time!). I've long admired his broadcasting skills but now I'm sat just simply astonished at his pluck and courage in facing and overcoming some pretty awful situations, not mention his sheer tenacity just to keep Caroline alive.
Nigel's book has made me look at many of the Caroline team with new eyes - a big sincere thanks guys. To anyone who hasn't ordered a copy yet, I strongly recommend you order a copy now (Its available from the Caroline web shop).
(The only error I spotted was when he described Laser as "American owned", when it was of course Irish owned and funded.).
