Hi,
I have used qsl before with no probs but if you are thinking about changing frequencies often, it gets a bit expensive.
I ended up buying an old sony walkman with a synthesized am section for 99p off ebay. This has an IF of 450 Khz. The osc runs at 450khz above the channel it displays which means that you can tune from 981 to 2052 khz in 9khz steps, or if you divide the oscillator by 2, you can tune from 490.5 to 1026 khz in 4.5 khz steps. Its as accurate as a crystal because it is based on a crystal ref and the beat achieved between my transmitter and broadcasters (who are actually on frequency) is usually less than 1 hz.
cheers
