MAR - Merseyland Alternative Radio is celebrating its 30th Anniversary broadcast over this weekend the 24th/25th October 2009.
MAR was born through the merger of two earlier pirates, Radio 252 and Radio Tower. The opening broadcast was at 10am on Saturday 25th October 1979 with the Dave Simpson Show being the very first programme. On this 30th Anniversary weekend, history will repeat itself, as it will be Dave Simpson once again starting up our weekend programmes.
Please tune in and let us know if you enjoy listening to MAR by either emailing or texting in. Our text number is 07504464678 and our email address is mar@rock.com Reception reports would also be appreciated.
We can be found on 1386 KHz AM - 217 metres mediumwave and on 105 FM. As well as these two frequencies we hope to be on various other AM & FM frequencies at various points throughout the weekend, due to relays from our friends at Central Radio International. Frequencies to look out for are 1512 KHz AM, 100.8 FM and possibly shortwave.
For this Anniversary broadcast we have some of our famous DJ's from the past doing shows once again including Bert Williams, John Dwyer, Dave Simpson and Paul Jay. These DJ's would be very happy to hear from any listeners out there from the old days of 1979 to 1981.
