Seems to me that radio in the UK really does need a massive kick up the backside, and in all honesty are we anoraks going to deliver it?
We get hung up over Neil Gates & Cruisin 531, argue that Radio Caroline is not to our personal taste, knock those that try to do something, and on and on it goes.
In the meantime Britain is being forced down the DAB route, which regardless of audio quality and reception issues, seems more about preserving the BBC & major commercial stations duopoly, and the saving of face for those uninformed 'experts' who have ignored many key facts, and possibly through personal pride cannot admit what a pointless route this is.
We can argue amongst ourselves until the cows come home, over what could have been, who was right and who was wrong, and to what end?
If you were upset by the MOA, and all the subsequent attempts to silence free radio, that all pales into insignificance compared to where UK radio is heading now.
DAB is a giant con, that will put the final nail into the coffin of younger people embracing radio.
Do some research, check out the stats of where UK radio is heading.
If we can build some momentum into rejecting DAB radio in the UK, it might turn the industry on its head.
Ho hum this has to be a healthier debate than all the pointless stuff over Cruisin and the like.
