Sterling: "Delusion" to me seems more like a medical condition, whereas "deception" seems more like a criminal condition.
Whilst you may consider “Delusion” more like a medical condition, that is not how it is defined or how it is commonly used.
And a “deception” doesn’t have to be a criminal condition, even when it’s a misleading falsehood and on the other hand it could just be an illusory feat; considered magical by naive observers.
You are right Annorak! I did qualify by saying "seems to me more like ... "
Normally when we say to a person, "you are deluded" that has a hint (a least) of being uncomplementary.
Queen wrote a little song about this:
