I agree absolutely - the radio spectrum is a natural resource and should be used for the benefit of all. Some of it could be given to the commercial companies but they should be up against the competition of free stations who do it for the love of it.
That would probably drive quality up and improve choice for the listener.
After all its easy to claim big audiences when you have bought over or otherwise neutralised all the competition and the so called regulator seems to mostly let you do what you want.
I love all kinds of radio but my idea of hell would be to have to listen to heart/smooth/galaxy for more than 20 minutes - 20 minutes in an entire lifetime is just about enough for mehee hee
