However, it strikes me that songs and films are banned or unbanned subject to social acceptability.
The following records were once acceptable:
"If you want to make a nigga feel good"
"Hey sailor, Have you ever been aboard a whaler" (The Ovaltineys)
Then some nursery rhymes are unacceptable:
"My mother said that I never should play with the gypsies in the wood"
"Eeny Meeny Meiny Mo"
"Bah Bah Black Sheep" (some London Councils insist upon "green")
And films ...
"Freaks" (featuring real freaks)
"Dambusters" (because of the dog's unfortunate name)
And TV programmes:
"Whacko" because of the headmaster's keeness for caning little boys.
Probably as much is banned today as was banned in the past.
