Has to be those snowy / frosty Sunday mornings in various fields of north London during the mid trough to late 70s and having to melt the ground with hot water! In order to drive the copper rods into the soil, then laying the counterpoise under the quarter wave antenna, and then finally tuning the MW rig up on 1368khz for another Sundays broadcast. Great times indeed didn’t feel the cold far to much enthusiasm to notice. Truly solid stuff, the RF not the Ice.
After this spending many years on band 2 in all installing and using well over 200 rigs, But hey nothing compared to those days on MW, great bunch of guys, most of all it was a very good time to be doing radio, alas better go and find my Kleenex now.
