Ive got 3 really -
the earliest is meeting Ronan ihim n mid 69 or so and excitedly telling me about Caroline TV; I still dont know who was more excited!
Later that year, Lovely Lee (Cuddly Ken's wife at the time) giving me a heap of his records and old tapes of the Master Wizard of the cutting block!
Then the First day on Caroline International - being on the same bill as my heroes Andy Archer, Spangles, Robin Adcroft and Chicago - plus Dick Palmer & his headband!
and loading the antenna (hanging under one of those bloody ballons!) for the first test transmissions from the Communicator with nonstop Beatles album tracks. We called a dozen or three folk on the sat phone to get reports - including the usual cast of suspects who had said 'no more offshore radio" after the Mi Amigo sank a few years before. Oh, the satisfaction of being able to do that!
Hell, you reminded me that watery wireless has given me some of the best kicks of my life. Who needs the drugs?!
