Sheffield, UK not Alabama, is my place of residence and one of the things that I am really proud of about my home city is that I share it with one of country music’s best performers – Jonny Williams. Whilst other UK performers struggle to keep abreast of the changing trends in country music Jonny has stayed true to the music’s roots and has proved over a number of years that you don’t have to offer a watered down, pop influenced variety of country to be popular. Jonny’s diary and record sales show that traditionalism is still widely popular in the UK. A dedicated fan of Hank Williams Sr (I have seen the tattoo), Jonny time after time turns in sterling performances of the old songs. That is not to say he is a dinosaur. Jonny does include newer songs in his repertoire but often gives them more country credibility than the original artist. “Sing Me Back Home” is Jonny’s latest release and the twelve songs, all touched by the Williams’ magic, will ensure strong sales. This infinitely enjoyable programme ranges from “Good News Travels Fast” (Rick Klang) to “Lost Highway” (Leon Payne), from “Bottles and Barstools” (Glenn Sutton) to “The Very Best Of Me” (Skip Ewing). Also included are “I’ll Find It Where I Can”, “A Couple More Years”, “I Should’ve Called”, “I Know Who Drove Her There”, “Hadacol Boogie”, “You’re Still On My Mind”, “Everybody Wants To Be Hank Williams” and. Of course, “Sing Me Back Home”. www.jonnywilliams.co.uk
Kris Miller is probably the most devout person I know. Born in Long Beach, California, at age 17, she was called to live the life of Christ and travelled like the disciples 2000 years ago, with just a minimum of possessions barefoot and dressed in white robes. She was totally dependant on God to supply her daily needs and devoted her life to helping others. Her travels took her all over the world and through these experiences came songs of faith and inspiration. After many years of travelling Kris now lives in Hemet, California where she gives freely of her time to help other and pursue a musical ministry. Her first album, “Alive and Well”, received many plaudits from the music industry and subsequently Kris has won several song writing awards Alongside writing songs that bring hope and comfort to millions of people throughout the world, Kris also leads Pure Righteousness, an a cappella choir that performs in prisons, churches, nursing homes and on radio and television. Kris’s new album, “The Journey Home (Dove) has fifteen songs that are inspiring, instructive and beautifully performed, in fact, everything that a Gospel album should be. Songs like “Gotta Believe”, “God Knows”, “Jesus Lives” and “Walking Among Us” will instantly appeal to all lovers of the Gospel genre. www.krismillermusic.com
