I'm sure all of independent country music knows that my good friend and co-writer on several songs, DJ Tommy Dean, passed away on April 13. We're having a memorial service for him at the American Legion Hall, Post 207, in Trenton, Maine on April 27 from one to four. I expect the hall to be filled to capacity, with some folks spilling into the big parking lot outside. Something happens when you lose somebody you care for. In Tommy's case, you wonder if you did enough to help him raise money for those who need it the most. You wonder if you could have done more, and you wonder if it will ever be the same again without him. For me, personally, I'll walk away from my brotherhood with Tommy, who I think was a country music saint here in Maine, knowing that the biblical expression "It is better to give than to receive," is an absolute truth.
