We all enjoy getting our songs played on the indie radio network. This network includes AM and FM radio, as well as Internet radio. We are all very appreciative when we see our music posted on the DJ playlists, and we should be. How often do we stop to think just how valuable this network is for exposing our music to country music fans around the world. If you're like me, you probably don't stop to think about it very often. Well, the other day, after checking how some of my songs were doing on Youtube, (Brian Philip Wardwell), I got to thinking that 30,000 views was very encouraging, -- then I compared that to the exposure we get on indie radio. Using a very simple formula, just for the sake of having a starting point, here's what I came up with. Suppose you get ten plays a week by ten different DJ's who have an average audience of 1000 listeners for each show they do. That's 100 plays a week being heard by an audience of 10,000. Now multiply that by 52 weeks and you get a total of 520,000 listeners hearing your music over the course of a year. This will give you some idea of how your indie airplay can add up over a period of time, and how important it is for you as an artist trying to get your music heard. We all owe the indie network DJ's a "big" thank you for the help they give each of us. Without the DJ's in the indie radio network, most of us would be getting very little, if any, airplay. Let's keep the music coming, let's continue to be supportive of our DJ's, and let's keep growing the independent country music fan base all over the world. Collectively, independent country music artists, with the help of the indie DJ's, are reaching "millions" of listeners all over the world. This is something we can all be proud of.
