Brian Plummer creator of the Plummer Terrier and countrysports writer, set out to create a large Hunting-Guard dog, a dog closely resembling the ancient Alaunt Gentile, a large game hunting, Mastiff type. A dog from which many breeds throughout the world are thought to be descended.
Plummer used three English breeds in it's creation, Greyhound, Bullmastiff and Bull Terrier and later American Bulldog(Scott type). In 2003 Brian Plummer passed away, but a few of his associates are said to be continuing with it's breeding. This breeding is clearly in the early stages of development, but has an obvious amount of growing popularity.
