where you will sit and contemplate your day
He makes her feel smart when he speaks, if only because she can understand what he's saying, and challenges her to actually listen. There are so many horses here who hurry and run about, trying to figure out things that don't need to be figured out, and trying new habits that will in the end ruin them. She is content here, with him. Conversation with him makes her work, but it is through this work that she feels most at ease. His smile is infectious and she smiles back, dipping her head a bit and continuing to grin.
“I think I would like you to take me there. I'm tired of getting lost.” There have been too many times that she's found that if she had only stepped to the right six steps, peered over a dune, she would have found the oasis. Instead, she tired herself to exhaustion before finding it. Her body was tired of it, and she was hoping to stop the cycle soon. It frustrated her.
She follows where his body goes, falling into step so that her chest is a fraction of a space behind his. She's proud that she only stumbles once every ten steps.
Amelia never really had friends growing up. Yes, there were friends, but not good ones, I suppose. She always kept to herself. She could speak, carry a conversation, but never really pursued getting to know anyone. When she talks to Cyan there's a new feeling in her gut, and she thinks it's friendship, but she's not sure. She'd like to be friends. She'd like to get to know him more. She likes being around him. That must mean they're friends, right? She tells herself yes, but doesn't say anything out loud. How does one even bring that up? So, we're friends, right? Yeah, not awkward at all. So she walks beside him, not saying a thing, except for a comment about a cactus or something that scurries in front of them, usually accompanied with a shying away from whatever it was. She doesn't like things that scurry.
They walk for a while before she speaks again. “Thanks for talking with me, and taking me to the oasis.” Yeah, brilliant. He probably thinks you're Einstein now.
