Fantome does not fear Lebanon as perhaps he should. Somewhere the silly ghost has convinced himself that she is inheritably good. There are no real facts to back up his reasoning, only that he simply does not distress around her as he would with someone truly “evil.” The ghost enjoys her company, and he is not one to lavish in cruel companions. Lebanon is merely an odd creature in his eyes.
He ‘wuffs’ gently through his nose as he contemplates his own hatred for his first born, his disappointment of a daughter. “I have a weakling of a daughter, and a stranger of a son,” he replies with the same bitterness he always refers to Courage with. Fantome cares little for her, giving his adoration to his and Delilah’s offspring – the son who had only now entered his life – a year after he was born.
