He was always with her. It was commonplace. It was familiar. They were each others. But her pale flesh was not against his as the sun beat down on his black. Perhaps he had told her to leave or perhaps she wasn't really that far off after all. That was the more likely of the cases anyway. His Atticus. Beautiful and fierce as the desert is hot and dry. The smile creasing his lips did not fade though. His own androgynous beauty did not fade in her absence. He spotted the young mare fighting with the sand and he knew. The painted mare had told him she would come and here she is. He moved to her, still shifting like the sand. Perhaps a mirage? No, no he was real. Same as she. "Nettle. I have been waiting for you." He stops when he is at her side. His awareness of space was slightly different than others. He touched her, gently, briefly against the side of her neck. He could imagine Atticus's growl as he did so. She was not here though and it was ignored. "You are never alone, Nettle. He is still with you even when he is gone." She did not need to speak. He knew the look in her eyes. He used to feel it when he was younger. When his beautiful Atticus was not at his side. He turned his orange gaze to the desert. "It has more appropriate places than this I assure you. It is not all bad." He also knew her contempt. He had remembered his own sister sharing the same feelings when they first got here. "Come, I will show you." He moved away and led her towards a small oasis. It was well shaded and there was surprisingly clear water there. His hooves sank into the sand surrounding the pool. The water was cool even though the air was hot. He lowered his head and drank, waiting for her to do the same. "Do you have questions? I might be able to help you." He waited now. His pumpkin eyes glittering in the sunlight. His mind wondering when, not if, Atticus would show her face. Hopefully she wouldn't scare poor Nettle away. (i lied lol. i decided i would take a break and post anyway lol) 19 Message Thread: sometimes i am home; ZESAB - Sammael February 6, 2009, 1:18 am sometimes we shift; ANYONE - Sammael and Atticus February 6, 2009, 1:25 am sometimes there is freedom; othertimes its slavery - triggerphish February 6, 2009, 2:11 am sometimes we just burn - Sammael and Atticus February 6, 2009, 11:11 am « Back to thread
