He finds Hypatia easily enough. She is one of the very few in Ni’Srilan whose infernal energy matches his own – hers is different, of course. It is far more rational, less reckless, less volatile. Baraqel is a wildfire and an electrical storm all wrapped up in one natural disaster of a stallion, but everyone already knows that.

Baraqel’s philosophy is that there are two ways to become famous: Do great things that people will want to remember, or blow a whole lot of shit up so that ignoring you becomes impossible.

He’s chosen the latter method and it seems to serve him well.

He trots toward Hypatia, languid, careless – his crimson mane bounces along the idle coil of his gleaming neck, and his hooves slide through the loosely-packed sand of the dune surface. His hooves leave horsehoe-shaped charred patches in the sand beneath him, and a couple of apathetic shocks of Lightning leap between his pricked ears. He is a sleeping dragon, even when at rest – an impossible conglomeration of violent elements that just happen to give destruction a moment of haphazard reprieve.

“Hey, Hypatia,” he says, with an inclination of his golden muzzle. His amber eyes dart to Kail and, with a subconscious, mischievous smirk, he adds, “and Kail.”

“I’m here to give you your report, like someone dutiful, or something.” he pauses, lifts his head and affects the most regal Commander-like pose he can (maybe dramatized somewhat. For effect.) “Most of the warriors can fight. Strandwolf and Ahriman, the two newest silvers, are appropriately badass for me to not light them on fire. Alerion’s great, too. The two new recruits, Maximus and Viruk, seem promising. Maximus may or may not be a pretentious prick, but Im’ma see what I can do.” a careless smile that doesn’t bode well, and then – “But I’ll make sure I’m ethical, and all. Ish.”

Baraqel. Ethics.

Yeah.

“So how have you been, Hypatia?” he asks then, with a little smile. “I’ve missed you and Kail.”

He means, while he was off on destruction rampages and all that.

It’s so hard for him to remember to be social sometimes.
